“Be Willing to Have It So”

Dear God,

An Eastern cleric once told Joseph Campbell that the way to live was simply to “be willing to have it so.”  Now, I don’t think he meant that we were never to do anything to make needed changes.  But he meant that when we had tried our best, then we were to stand firm and “be willing to have it so.”

I need to hear this cleric this morning.  There are many things that don’t admit of change, but I can rest easy in the midst of them.  Your solace takes me over and beyond any difficulty.  Indeed, it makes the difficulty not a difficulty at all.

Amen.
