Patience

Dear God,

My church community just received an online video from our pastor that emphasized “patience.”  I know that patience is one of my goals.  I once asserted in a conversation that I had a lot of patience, but that was wishful thinking.  Now I know how far I have to go.

And maybe I have life circumstances ahead that will demand additional patience, but will come out alright in the end.  I am naturally optimistic, and that too is a great blessing.

Thank You for taking me by the hand and guiding me to greater patience as I run the race that is before me.

Amen.

Guidance

Dear God,

May this day go smoothly, despite my allergies.  So many people have allergy problems these days, a minor issue for most.  I am eager for my ears to become unstopped, my nose to return to normal, and life to go on without this little problem.

Help me to be patient.  You don’t assure us of a life without problems, small or big.  But the one thing I always want to remember is that You are here with me, giving me detailed guidance at every turn.

This is the saving grace of life on Earth.  Thank You.

Amen.

Solutions

Dear God,

If I pray about a matter, asking for a solution, and the solution does not appear quickly, then I realize that I need just to wait. There are matters ahead that have not happened yet, and so it is not yet time. You have wanted me to develop more patience, and this is a prime example of Your prompting to just be patient.

Thank You for this insight. It came to me this morning when I was praying to You, and then, later, something I could do now occurred to me. You lead me one step at a time.

Thank You.

Amen.

Patience

Dear God,

I am puzzled about several things this morning. I don’t have any sense from You that I should act in the first instance. In the second instance, I am frustrated and not sure if my mind’s thought is where You are.

Keep me calm. I need more patience to wait for a word from You in these puzzling questions. I like quick Answers, and You usually accommodate me. Maybe the thoughts I have now are a word from my heart attuned to You.

Thank You for my assurance that You always let me know, when I listen. And help me to listen–in patience until I am sure of what to do.

Amen.

Weight Loss

Dear God,

You know that I have wanted to take off five pounds, and this morning, after a month and a half of gentle dieting, the weight is gone!  Now I must hold constant for a while to let a new set point emerge.

Thank you for giving me the patience to diet gently.  And thank You for keeping me calm and easy when I wanted to head into the kitchen to get something else to eat.

Amen.
