Close to God

Dear God,

I ask You to cocoon me this morning.  I ask for the warm and fuzzy feeling that lets me know that You are reaching me from the depths.  I long for a sense of Your companionship.  When I feel close to You, the closeness that I sense is a blessing beyond compare.

You want us to commune with You.  This is the prayer without words in which we listen to what You are trying to say in the silence we hear.  This contemplation is very sweet.  When we get right with You, all things smooth out, and we are walking a green earth.

Thank You for the assurance You give me that You are always with me, living through me.  Help me to give You a good day.

Amen.

Nearness of God

Dear God,

Thank You for a good night’s sleep—the prelude, I hope, to a good day.  Thank You for staying near, letting me sense Your presence.  I long to be cocooned by You just all the time.  You are a great comfort to me.

May I reach out to others with the same goodwill—and love—You have shown me.

Amen.

Music

Dear God,

I am listening to Baroque music on our Internet radio.  A lovely time this morning.

Help me to be more grateful for the wonderful things that crowd into my life.  Gratitude makes for a better life, gratitude to You for life itself.

Thank You for giving me a good day.  Help me not to rue it at any point.

Amen.

Nature

Dear God,

It is a bright, sunny, balmy day with the bluest of blue skies. I am on our sun porch, just basking in the warmth.  A blue jay flutters about, finding worms for her little ones.  You give such blessings to us in nature, if we are willing to look.  I am willing to look today.

Thank You for another day spent on Your earth.  Let me not take any day for granted.  Let me not discount any day.  Any day that begins in error can be turned around, if I try.  And it just takes a little willingness, as A Course in Miracles says.

Amen.

Alert

Dear God,

Thank You for the alert feeling that I have this morning.  I have good energy, resulting from a good night’s sleep.  Help me to do something with this day that brings about good.

So often I am too sleepy in the morning, and, thankfully, that sedation is gone today.  Help me to make the most of a good day.

Thank You for guiding my choices.

Amen.

Depend on God

Dear God,

The Workbook Course in Miracles lesson that I used as an affirmation yesterday: “God is the strength in which I trust.”  And today’s lesson, also important: “There is nothing to fear.”

When I depend on You, I get along well.  When I don’t depend on You, I become afraid.

Help me to depend on You today.

Thank You.

Amen.

Happiness

Dear God,

Thank You that so far this morning I have been able to stay “in the moment,” a secret to good living.  Present moment thinking prepares me for a good day.  And it is the secret to happiness.

Thank You for being so close to me.  I can feel Your presence, and that is a very great blessing.

Amen.

Good Day

Dear God,

A good day.  I awoke to rain, heavy rain.  It reminds me of my grandmother’s house, when I was just awakening, listening to rain on the tin roof.  Thank You for these comforting memories.

Now I have our Internet radio tuned to a station that is playing Christmas music in late June.  All comforting happenings.

Thank You for this auspicious beginning to my day.

Amen.

Good Day

Dear God,

There is a way to have a good day.  I do know what works and what doesn’t.  So much of my good day is all attitude.  May I elicit a good attitude in everything that passes my way today.

To have this work, I need You, and I need You badly.  Keep me enthralled in Your presence all the day through.

Thank You.

Amen.

Another Good Day

Dear God,

Another good day, blessings!  Thank You so much for being with me, encouraging me to stay positive, giving me a new lease on life.

If I dip into negativity, just lift me up right away.  I know that You can do it, and I hope you will—if I need it.

Thank You.

Amen
