God’s Comfort

Dear God,

When things don’t seem to be going right, it is time to check in with You and see if there is something I need to do differently.  When I do this, and no thought arises that would lead to change, then it is time to realize that I am finite and cannot see the whole picture.

This is where I find myself today.  Keep me enfolded in Your arms, in patience as I live on part-knowledge.

Thank You for giving me comfort when the world’s comfort is limited.

Amen.

Good Day

Dear God,

A good day.  I awoke to rain, heavy rain.  It reminds me of my grandmother’s house, when I was just awakening, listening to rain on the tin roof.  Thank You for these comforting memories.

Now I have our Internet radio tuned to a station that is playing Christmas music in late June.  All comforting happenings.

Thank You for this auspicious beginning to my day.

Amen.

Pandemic

Dear God,

May our friends and family be comforted in this time of pandemic, even though we are isolated from each other.  When the isolation is ended, may we see that our love has bloomed, even though we have been apart.

Be with us today and every day.  We call out to You for Your emotional support in these strange times for our world.

Thank You for answering us.

Amen.

Comfort

Dear God,

Please grant me comfort.  I know that in the grand scheme of things, when you are making a woman out of me, comfort may not be Your highest priority.  Still I ask for Your warmth as You steel me for whatever may come my way.

Be with all of us.  Don’t make us passive, but keep us tolerant of each other, giving each other plenty of slack.  And keep us calm.  These two, slack and calm, are advice of A Course of Love, to avoid judgment and fear.

Thank You.

Amen.
